Castle Rock,
Colorado is a world-class community nestled just south of
Colorado’s capital city. Castle Rock is a thriving world-class
community. With more than 70,000 residents, Castle Rock values its
small-Town character, its traditional Downtown core and its regular
community events. Full-service municipality Castle Rock is a
full-service municipality. It employees about 566 full-time employees to
provide police, fire, emergency medical, parks, recreation, water and
transportation services. The Town also serves as the Douglas County seat
and is home to headquarters for the Douglas County School District,
Douglas County, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and a local Colorado
State Patrol troop. Community growth Slated to grow to 130,000-150,000
residents, the Town will continue to provide high-quality services while
preserving the community's history and heritage. At the same time, the
Town will remain physically freestanding from the rest of the metro
area. Community features The Town’s identity stems not only from the
namesake Rock, but also from a scenic natural landscape that surrounds
it. There are 87 miles of trails, 50 well-planned parks and more than
6,000 acres of open space for residents and visitors to enjoy, making
Castle Rock a regular on Money magazine’s top places to live list. In
order to preserve their rich traditions and quality of life, Castle Rock
residents effectively manage change. The community works to enhance the
Town’s self-sufficiency and foster a strong local economy, making Castle
Rock an attractive place to work and own or start a business.
Castle Rock is a great place to be. In fact, it ranks
among the best both locally and nationally, according to a variety of
national publications and studies. Money Magazine recognized Castle Rock
in its top places to live numerous times during the past decade. Most
recently, in 2019, Castle Rock ranked No. 40. In 2019, Douglas County
was ranked No. 1 healthiest community in the second-annual U.S. News
ranking. For this study, counties were evaluated on 10 categories that
shape the core of a community's well-being, from traditional heath
indicators like cancer and obesity, to social determinants such as crime
rate, housing quality and the share of population living in poverty.
