VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
- In the wake of recent national disasters
and the nationwide mortgage & real estate crisis, there are thousands of
people in need of your support & generosity. I would like to remind folks
that while cash is always needed to help people, so are volunteers to help out with a
variety of needs.

Purpose: To motivate and cultivate volunteers as a vital force in
our community. Works with over 600 nonprofits and in 2004 connected over
22,000 volunteers with volunteer opportunities.

American Red Cross Mile
High Chapter -

Purpose: To provide relief to victims of disaster and help people
prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Volunteer opportunities
may be available in the areas of health and safety, transportation,
general office support, data entry, and disaster services. With the
overwhelming response to Hurricane Katrina, additional volunteers may not
be needed at this time-check with your local chapter or online.
Boys Hope Girls Hope of
Colorado -

Purpose: To help children who are hurt and at risk, yet
academically capable, to realize their full potential by providing
value-centered, family-like homes and quality education through college.
Volunteer opportunities may include administration, program, and youth
volunteers.
Crossroads of the Rockies

Purpose: To service the community by providing resources to meet
holistic needs of people. Some volunteer opportunities may include
clothing bank workers, food sorters/packers, fundraising, holiday project
support, peer mentors, and interpreters for food bank.
Denver Rescue Mission -

Purpose: Helping the poor and underprivileged. Volunteer opportunities
may include tutoring, office work, working with clients, maintenance work,
or serving in the soup kitchen.
Habitat for Humanity -

Purpose: To build homes in partnership with qualified low-income
families and volunteers. Volunteer opportunities include construction (no
skills necessary), office help, and committee members.
Hospice of Saint John -

Purpose: To provide alternative and loving care for the terminally
ill and their families, with an emphasis on life and living. Volunteer
opportunities may include patient care, social companion, home care,
clerical, bereavement & pastoral support.
Jeffco Action Center -

Purpose: To provide outreach services for the residents of
Jefferson County. Some volunteer opportunities may include organizing food
drives and fundraisers, preparing food orders, sorting clothes in the
clothing bank, delivering Meals on Wheels, working in the Santa Shop, etc.
Junior Achievement -

Purpose: To educate and inspire young people to value free
enterprise, business, and economics to improve the quality of their lives.
Openings for classroom volunteers needed throughout the year.
La Clinica Tepeyac -
clinicatepeyac.org
Purpose: To improve health and wellness of our community through
health education and promotion. Medical services are also offered to
patients with low income, no insurance, and no Medicaid or Medicare.
Volunteer opportunities: Annual health fair, immunization fairs, general
office, mailings, and large projects like moving furniture. Bilingual
volunteers a plus!
Ronald McDonald House
Charities of Denver -

Purpose: To provide housing for families whose children are
receiving medical care in Denver. Volunteer opportunities may include
preparing meals, decorating for the holidays, hosting parties, assisting
with group chores around the house, and helping with Santa's Workshop.
